Maiton Island

A secluded tropical island famous for crystal-clear water and occasional dolphin sightings.

Maiton is the island people mean when they say "secluded": privately owned, no day-tripper crowds on the sand, and water so clear the anchor chain looks painted on the seabed.

The channel between Phuket and Maiton is home to a resident pod of dolphins, and on a good morning they come to play in the bow wave - the kind of moment no itinerary can promise, and no one ever forgets.

Maiton Island by yacht: questions

How much does a private yacht trip to Maiton cost?

On the yachts we recommend for Maiton, a half day on the Cranchi 58 starts at ฿100,000 and a full day at ฿125,000 from May to October. The Riva 70 starts at ฿99,000 for a half day and ฿129,000 for a full day. Prices are per boat with crew, not per person - all rates are on the prices page.

Will we see dolphins on the way to Maiton?

Often, but no one can promise it. A resident pod lives in the channel between Phuket and Maiton, and on a good morning the dolphins come to play in the bow wave.

What do you do at Maiton?

The yacht anchors over white sand in clear turquoise water. You swim, snorkel the reef on the south side of the island, take out the paddle boards or the kayak, and have lunch on board with the island to yourselves.

Maiton or Coral Island?

Coral Island (Koh Hae) is twenty minutes off Phuket's south coast and is the easy choice for a short half day and first-time snorkellers. Maiton lies east of Phuket, has the clearest water in the area and the dolphins in the channel, and there are no day-tripper crowds on the sand.

What is included?

Captain, crew, fuel, insurance, towels, drinking water, soft drinks, paddle boards, a kayak and snorkelling gear. Extras such as champagne, a photographer or a premium seafood lunch are arranged on request and charged separately.
