A 3- or 4-day yacht charter from Phuket gives you time to settle into life on board. Breakfast overlooking a bay, an afternoon in the water, dinner with the islands around you: the overnight stops become as much a part of the holiday as the destinations.
For two nights, you can explore the southern islands from Chalong or spend your time among the limestone scenery of Phang Nga Bay from Ao Po. With three nights, you can also consider a longer route combining Phi Phi and Krabi.
At Star Sailing Club, we plan private charters around your group, your dates and the way you like to travel. These three sample itineraries are a starting point for choosing your yacht and route.
Which itinerary suits you?
| Your priorities | Suggested itinerary | Duration | Departure and return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swimming, snorkelling and time around the southern islands | Racha Yai, optional Racha Noi and Coral Island | 3 days / 2 nights; can be extended to 4 days | Chalong |
| Limestone cliffs, canoe excursions and island scenery | Phang Nga Bay and Koh Yao | 3 days / 2 nights; a fourth day can add Hong Island in Krabi | Ao Po Grand Marina |
| Phi Phi as the highlight, with another island area to explore | Phi Phi, Hong Island in Krabi and the Koh Yao area | 4 days / 3 nights | Ao Po Grand Marina |
The examples below assume morning boarding and passages during daylight. Your captain confirms the stops and overnight locations for the selected yacht, taking account of weather, tides and access to each destination. We agree the boarding and return times before booking.
Ask us to plan your overnight charter
Option 1: Racha and Coral Island - 3 days / 2 nights
This is a good starting point for guests who want swimming and snorkelling to shape the trip. Departing from Chalong lets you concentrate on the islands south of Phuket, with time to return to a favourite bay or stay longer at a swim stop.
Sample route: Chalong → Racha Yai → optional Racha Noi → Racha Yai → Coral Island → Chalong.
Day 1: Chalong to Racha Yai
Meet the crew, settle into your cabin and head towards Racha Yai. Once the captain has chosen a suitable anchorage, spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling or relaxing on deck. Dinner and the first night on board are planned in the Racha Yai area.

There is time to enjoy the anchorage after the day’s activities, with your cabin just a few steps from the cockpit.
Day 2: Explore Racha Noi or spend longer at Racha Yai
If the conditions suit an excursion farther south, cruise to Racha Noi for a swim or snorkelling stop. Return towards Racha Yai for the second night.
Staying around Racha Yai is another option, particularly if your group prefers more time in the water and shorter passages. The crew can plan the day around a suitable bay, a relaxed lunch and the activities available on your yacht.
Day 3: Coral Island and back to Chalong
After breakfast, head back towards Phuket, with a stop near Coral Island if conditions and the agreed return time allow. Enjoy a final swim or an optional visit ashore before returning to Chalong during daylight.

Any beach facilities or shore activities are confirmed separately.
Make it four days
An extra night gives you more time around the Racha islands. We can spread out the cruising, allow a longer stay at a favourite anchorage and adjust the final day’s stops to your group.
For this southern itinerary, Lagoon 42 Silver Moon, based at Chalong, is an option for up to six overnight guests.
Option 2: Phang Nga Bay and Koh Yao - 3 days / 2 nights
Choose this route for limestone scenery, sea caves and evenings surrounded by islands. From Ao Po Grand Marina, you can build the trip around Phang Nga Bay and the Koh Yao area.
The highlights here are the landscapes and opportunities to explore by local canoe. If reef snorkelling is the main reason for your holiday, tell us before choosing the route so we can recommend the right cruising area.
Sample route: Ao Po → Panak and Hong in Phang Nga Bay → James Bond Island area → Koh Yao Noi → Ao Po.
Day 1: Ao Po to the limestone islands
Leave Ao Po and cruise into the bay, with Panak and Hong among the possible stops. A local canoe excursion can be arranged to explore accessible caves and enclosed lagoons; its timing depends on tides and local arrangements. The yacht stays outside these small passages.

Spend the first night at a suitable anchorage in the bay, with dinner on board and the limestone islands around you.
Day 2: James Bond Island and Koh Yao
Explore the James Bond Island area, with a visit ashore where access allows. Then continue towards Koh Yao Noi for the second night.
Keep the afternoon flexible: you may prefer a coastal stop, time on deck or a swim at a location selected by the captain. Share your priorities in advance so we can allow enough time for them.
Day 3: A final island stop and return to Ao Po
Enjoy breakfast before heading back towards Phuket. A stop around the Naka islands can be considered on the return route, leaving enough time for your agreed arrival at Ao Po Grand Marina.
Make it four days: add Hong Island in Krabi
A fourth day can extend the trip east of Koh Yao towards Hong Island in Krabi, with another night in the Koh Yao or Krabi area before returning to Ao Po. This adds a beach and lagoon destination to the bay itinerary, subject to the conditions for your dates.

Hong Island in Krabi and Hong in Phang Nga Bay are different places. We identify them clearly when preparing your route.
Bali Catspace Siva, based at Ao Po Grand Marina, offers four guest cabins and space for up to eight overnight guests.
Option 3: Phi Phi and Krabi - 4 days / 3 nights
If Phi Phi is the place you most want to see, give it a full day within your charter. This itinerary includes two nights in the Phi Phi area before continuing towards Hong Island in Krabi and returning to Phuket.
It involves more time underway than the shorter bay itinerary. It suits guests who enjoy the cruising as well as the stops and want to visit two distinct island areas.
Sample route: Ao Po → Phi Phi → Hong Island in Krabi / Koh Yao area → Ao Po.
Day 1: Ao Po to Phi Phi
Board in the morning and begin the passage towards Phi Phi. Treat this as the main cruising day: settle into the yacht, have lunch on board and watch the islands change as you travel south.
The plan is to reach a suitable overnight location in the Phi Phi area during daylight. A later boarding time may require a nearer first stop and a revised itinerary, so discuss your arrival plans with us before booking flights or transfers.
Day 2: A full day around Phi Phi
Spend the day exploring the islands from your overnight base. Your programme can include suitable snorkelling spots, time off a beach and views of Phi Phi Leh’s limestone cliffs.

If Maya Bay or Pileh Lagoon is on your wish list, mention it when we plan the charter. We check current access and any local boat arrangements needed for the visit. Spend a second night in the Phi Phi area, with the day’s stops selected around your interests and the conditions.
Day 3: Cruise towards Hong Island in Krabi
Head north towards the Hong Islands off Krabi. This is another substantial passage, so the day should allow time for the journey and arrival before dusk. A beach or lagoon visit may fit around the arrival time and access arrangements.
The third night is planned at a suitable location in the Krabi or Koh Yao area. The captain chooses the exact overnight stop for the conditions.

Day 4: Return to Ao Po
Start with breakfast and, where timing permits, a final swim. Cruise back towards Ao Po Grand Marina, with the day’s departure and stops arranged around your agreed return time.
This loop can be discussed for a charter on Siva. If you prefer Silver Moon from Chalong, we can prepare a Phi Phi itinerary suited to its southern departure point.
Which yacht should you book for two or three nights?
Start with the number of guests sleeping aboard and the cabin arrangement your group needs.
| Catamaran | Overnight guests | Guest cabins | Usual departure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lagoon 42 Silver Moon | Up to 6 | 3 | Chalong |
| Bali Catspace Siva | Up to 8 | 4 | Ao Po Grand Marina |

Tell us the number of adults and children, the children’s ages and any preferences about sharing cabins. We can then recommend the yacht and route together and explain the overnight arrangements, including air-conditioning use.
For more about meals, packing and living on board, see our guide to overnight yacht charters in Phuket.
What does a 3-4 day yacht charter cost?
We prepare a quote for your dates, yacht and itinerary. A published day-charter starting price does not establish the total for a trip with two or three nights on board.
Your proposal will set out the charter price and the arrangements for crew, fuel, meals and drinks. It will also explain any separate charges for a chef, provisions, national parks, local canoe excursions, shore activities or transfers, together with applicable taxes and payment terms.
If you have a budget in mind, share it with your enquiry. We can suggest a suitable yacht, route and meal arrangement, with the total explained before you confirm.
Frequently asked questions
Should we book three days or four?
Three days means two nights aboard; four days means three nights. Three days works well for a focused trip around the southern islands or Phang Nga Bay. A fourth day adds time at the anchorages or room for a longer route, such as the Phi Phi and Krabi example above.
Can we change these itineraries?
Yes. Tell us which places you want to visit, which you have already seen and how you want to divide the time between swimming, sightseeing and relaxing. We tailor the proposed route to your yacht and dates, with the final stops subject to the captain’s assessment and local access.
Does the yacht travel at night?
Our itineraries are planned with daylight passages. Nights are spent at a suitable anchorage or another agreed overnight location.
Can we travel with children?
We can plan a family charter around the children’s ages, cabin needs and preferred pace. Let us know about meal preferences and the balance you want between time underway and time at the stops.
Plan your private overnight charter from Phuket
Send us your dates, the number of adults and children, and whether you have two or three nights available. Add your favourite route from this guide, the islands you most want to see and your approximate budget.
We will check yacht availability and prepare a proposed itinerary and quote for your group. You can start with one of these examples or ask us to build a different trip around your priorities.
